Thanks for this enlightening post! It will definitely help me. I was curious to ask, do you stick with R because it works better in this case, because you are more familiar with it or because there are no good python alternatives? I fell on your post looking for a python solution and I am considering switching our workflow to R if this works out better, and by the results you claim to have, I am about to try it out (with some R experience of course!).
